37B (House) – Rep. Phil Sterner – Phil was elected in 2008 after serving on the Rosemount City Council for 4 years.  An active community volunteer, Phil enjoys representing his “hometowns.”  Phil and his wife Brenda have been Rosemount residents since 1985.  Phil grew up in Apple Valley, attended Apple Valley High School, and owns Sterner Insurance Agency in Apple Valley.  Rep. Sterner is the Vice Chair on the Local Government Divsion, and serves on the State and Local Government Operations committee and the Environment Policy and Oversight Committee.  He has been actively working on legislation that makes for a safer and stronger community.  After growing up as the son of an Air Force Master Sargent and raising a son currently serving in the Air Force, Rep. Sterner has authored and co-authored several peices of legislation to make veterans benefits stronger and provide protection upon return from armed service.
